+ What is it?

Showcasing Portsmouth! is an exciting cross-arts celebration of Portsmouth for children in Year 2 upwards, as part of a cultural collaboration with the Cultural Education Partnership.

Optional free arts workshops will be offered to schools.

Showcasing Portsmouth! will culminate with a performance at Portsmouth Guildhall including community songs as well as opportunities for school vocal solos, dance, art and poetry

+ When is it?

The performance will take place on Thursday 30 th June 2022 at 6.30pm at Portsmouth Guildhall

+ What will schools have to do?

  • Attend the twilight session on Wednesday 26th January at 4pm on Zoom.
  • Teach the songs prior to the first in-school joint rehearsal in early-May.
  • Attend in-school joint rehearsal in mid-June - children will be expected to know all words and actions from memory at this session.
  • Attend rehearsal at The Guildhall on 30th June 2021. Times will be confirmed based on which choir your school is allocated to.
  • Ensure that only children with photo and video consent are filmed as the final performance will be shared on social media.

+ What do we wear?

  • Plain brightly coloured t-shirts - no logos or graphics.
  • Black or grey trousers or skirts.
  • Black schools shoes - no trainers
  • Ideally not school uniform so that children are wearing different colours from the person next to them.

+ Optional Arts Workshops

Each Portsmouth school will have the choice to book an Arts, Dance or Poetry workshop as part Showcasing Portsmouth

The artwork will be displayed in a film to be shown during the live show and four poems will be selected to be performed during the live show.
